VIMINACIUM
Viminacium (lat. Viminacium) is an archaeological site near Old Kostolac, 12 km from Pozarevac. Roman military camp and the city was built in the first and lasted until the beginning of the seventh century. He was one of the most important legion camps on the Danube, and for a time the capital of the Roman province of Upper Moesia (Moesia Superior), which covered the largest part of Serbia, northern Macedonia and part of northwest Bulgaria.
Within the site are seven facilities open for visitors:
- Archaeological Park
- North Main Gate legionary camp (Porta Praetoria)
- Roman Spa
- Mausoleum which is probably buried Roman emperor Hostilian
- Mammoth Park
- DomAll Scientiarvm
- Craft Center with furnaces for the production of ceramics and bricks
- Paleochristian memory (due to specific locations within the thermal power plant Drmno available for the visit only in exceptional circumstances and with prior notice securing TEKO Kostolac B)
